As a Senior Backend Developer (f/m/d) at AOE FinTech, you work with Kotlin and Java on secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions - from REST APIs and integrations to topics such as Open Banking, authentication, and compliance.
You are part of an agile team and work closely with frontend, DevOps, and QA colleagues. In this role, you contribute not only your technical experience, but also your understanding of banking processes, regulatory requirements, and development in security-critical environments.
The role is full-time and generally remote-friendly. For team days, workshops, or go-live phases, occasional travel to our office in Pforzheim or to our customers’ sites is planned.

Job Description
- You develop and enhance backend services as well as secure, scalable, and high-performing backend solutions in a banking environment
- You implement automated tests, carry out error analyses, and continuously optimize existing systems
- You design, develop, and maintain REST APIs as well as internal and external interfaces
- You use modern AI-assisted development tools to support code generation, refactoring, documentation, and error analysis
What you bring along
- You have several years of experience in agile backend development in a banking environment
- You have very good knowledge of Kotlin and Java 17/21+ as well as experience with Spring Boot
- You have solid experience in DevOps topics, particularly in setting up and operating CI/CD pipelines as well as working with containerization using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
- You have experience with security topics, especially with identity providers such as WSO2 Identity Server and integration solutions such as WSO2 Micro Integrator
- You have experience in GDPR- and ISO 27001-compliant development
- You have experience with AI-assisted coding and use tools such as Claude or Codex to support development, refactoring, and documentation
- You have business-fluent German skills as well as good written and spoken English skills
